Flying

The central theme of the Amber project in Nanjichang symbolizes the artist’s intention to preserve this vanishing neighborhood, much like amber encapsulates and preserves memories. The material for the artwork is derived from the spiral staircases of Nanjichang apartments. This design originally adhered to early public housing regulations, intentionally created as hollow columns to serve as garbage chutes. However, due to maintenance difficulties, these chutes were later sealed off and fell into disuse. Interestingly, they became popular spots for photography and inspiration.
